Materials
Here is a list of materials for ART I classes here at Rolesville High School. While students are NOT required to purchase these materials other than the specific notebook and sketchbook, the following list is HIGHLY recommended for students to have so they will always have the color, shade and size implement they desire to create their art.
Also included in this document are the needs for ART II and beyond.

Color Pencils

All students should have a pack of 50 color pencils. A Crayola pack of 50 is fine for Visual Arts I and can be passable for VAII though Prisma Color Pencils are prefered for the serious art student
Drawing Pencils

A set of drawing pencils in a variety of values (H=hard lead =
light value, Ex 6H=very light value and hard lead) (B=Soft Lead = darker values Ex 6B =
a very dark value)

Drawing Pens

A varitey of drawing pens such as Micron or Artline are a great assest for students who are interested in fine line drawings. These are more expensive than sharpie markers and are recommended for advanced serious art students .
Ebony Pencils

Every Level should have 2 Ebony Pencils

Erasers

A minimum of 1 Kneaded eraser, 1 Plastic eraser and 1 Gum eraser. I recommend the Prismacolor 3 pack
Oil Pastels

Art I students are required to have a 12 piece set of Oil Pastels. Make sure that the set includes white and black! Crayola Portfolio Pastels are a good set.
Pencil Sharpener

All levels need to have the standard 2 hole metal pencil sharpener
Portfolio

Portfolios ease the transport of art work from school to home. Students will not be allowed to take home artwork without a portfolio. 20x26" should be ideal in size.
Sharpie Markers

Every Level should have 2 Ultra Fine Black Markers. Art II-AP should also have Several Black Sharpie Fine Tip or Chisel Tip markers along with 1 pack of a dozen assorted color fine tip Sharpies. Prismacolor markers are very expensive but worth the investment for serious students.
Sketchbook

All students must have a 100 sheet 9x12" sketchbook with perforated pages specifically for art class.
Supply Box

All students are required to have a case to contain their supplies. Supply stores sell various sizes "tackle boxes" designed for art materials. These cases are great for the transportation of supplies but can be pricey.
Tortillons and Stumps

Tortillons and stumps make blending easer and avoids adding oils from fingers that could damage the paper. A varitey pack of Trotillons are needed for all levels.
